Rio made his ring debut by garnering a Specialty RWD at 9 months under Jane Howard. Just a few months later, at the 2009 ASSA National, Rio placed 4th in the 12-18 month Futurity class and 3rd in the Am Bred class shown by Julie Desy.
He then quickly flew to his Canadian championship in three weeks shown by Bryan.
After a quick change of attire, Rio was back out in style being where he finished with multiple specialty wins including back to back Best of Breed wins under Jane Howard and Roz Durham at the Sacramento Valley Shetland Sheepdog Specialty, all by 19 months of age.
Rio is currently available at stud to approved bitches; he is standing at stud with Solstice Shelties in Michigan.
